Microsoft's Xbox division has announced a dozen new original shows that will be exclusive only on the Xbox platform. The original programming projects include a documentary on modern technology, live concert coverage of the Bonnaroo music festival as well as the highly successful game, Halo that will be produced by Steven Spielberg. Microsoft had previously announced 6 projects but also included details on 6 new projects.
In an effort to differentiate itself with other programming available on Netflix and Amazon, Microsoft's experience on interactivity will be highlighted. "They're offering linear content. We have interactivity," said Nancy Tellem, Xbox Entertainment and Studies chief. Interactivity of the NFL Fantasy App that was created as part of the NFL partnership with Microsoft was showcased and an example of potential of the experience.
FtSb says: Microsoft and the NFL Fantasy App on the Xbox is truly different experience than any other app for fantasy football. Currently there the NFL does not include an application for the Sony PlayStation platform. The market that the current Xbox is competing against a trend in how fantasy players consume content: mobile. Thus interactivity must be used a way to differentiate.
