The first advertisement for Microsoft's next generation gaming console, the Xbox One, is out. However, Microsoft wants to position the device as more than just for games. They want to place it as a center device for entertainment in your living room.
The first commercial opportunistically features the NFL on opening week. It also features social integration scenarios as part of the football experience with Skype. But they highlight "Built-in Fantasy Football" is a key feature of the device.
MY TAKE: Fantasy football demographics line up closely with gamers and football fans with the majority of them being male, in their 30s, and with a college degree. So the target audience makes sense. However, not having experience first hand the fantasy football on the Xbox One, it is difficult to judge how integrated the experience will be with watching sports. The Xbox One will still need to compete with smartphones, tablets, and PC for fantasy football minutes. I am excited though about the buzz that the Xbox One is generating.
