So it is no surprise that fantasy sports was identified as one of the fastest growing industries by IBIS World with a projected annualized growth rate of 11.9% from 2008-2018 on top of the $1.6 billion in revenues for 2013. Joining fantasy sports were industries in social networking, e-commerce, e-books, and online recruitment.

There does seem to be leveling off of the rise of fantasy sports. In the next five years, annual growth is only projected to be 7.6% after experiencing an absolute growth rate of 241% in the past decade. Thus the question then becomes what other areas of growth are possible for fantasy sports.
