NFL Now announced a new online network, deliverying customized content for fantasy owners

The NFL will launch in the summer of 2014, a personalized content delivery experience in the form of a new online sports network, the NFL Now.

The new online network will allow users to customize the experience by having users pick their favorite teams. The service will also cater to fantasy football owners by providing the ability to pick favorite players as well. With the selection, NFL Now can provide a unique experience tailored to the user.

The online network will be able to provide game highlights, press conferences, analysis and original content from NFL properties. When it does launch over the summer, NFL Now will be available on all major mobile platforms including Android, Apple and Windows smartphones.  In addition, leveraging its strategic partnership with Microsoft, NFL Now will be available on the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

The online network will be free at launch and will be supported via ads. The NFL does intend to release a subscription version with details still pending. The online network will also not carry NFL live games, at least not at launch.

FTSB says: The NFL Redzone has been an essential tool for fantasy players as it provides up to the minute video highlights of all the Sunday action for the NFL. NFL Now could be the next step for fantasy players looking to get the next level of customized for specific players that they care about. The NFL is slowly becoming autonomous in its ability to deliver NFL content directly to the viewer. The NFL will have now the NFL Network for the traditional brick and mortars broadcasting asset that already carries Thursday night games. In addition, it will now have the online/web/cloud/video service, NFL Now. The NFL is slowly removing the necessity to have a middle man to deliver content that includes the ESPN, CBS, NBC and FOX Sports. However, the NFL must still walk a very balance line with those broadcasters as they are the ones that are still paying a small fortune for the rights to broadcast games. It remains to be seen ow integrated will NFL Now be to the NFL's fantasy football site. Although the merger of the two could be a utopia for the fantasy player, it could also sour the relationship with other game providers that are promoting the NFL.
