Sportradar acquires SportsData, forms company that will probably have to do with sports

Sportsradar, a leading provider of sports and betting, has agreed to acquire SportsData, a leading sport data services company. The merger touts a combine company that covers over 40 sports and 200,000 events.

Sportsradar operates on sports betting and the media industry side with its Betradar and Scoreradar services. It is based in Switzerland has more than 600 full time employees worldwide and operates mainly in the European market while SportsData is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

SportsData was formed in 2010 and provides sports data to companies such as Google, Bleacher, Facebook and Twitter. The company provides live score and statistics, optimized search results for player data, and can provide real time content information. The company provides an API platform layer that can serve up data for NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and racing feeds.

FtSb says: As data becomes more readily available, it also becomes a commodity. Accuracy of the data goes without saying, however, the speed in which to get data is also highly prized. Although near perfect real time data for your normal fantasy football scores may not be a necessity, the near perfect real time data when it comes to sports betting is highly sought. So now Sportsradar now has a platform and pipeline to be able to get this data with the acquisition  of SportsData.
