Fantasy Sports Network looks to launch in March of 2014
Anthem Media, based in Toronto, is planning to launch FNTSY Sport Networks in the U.S and in Canada in March of 2014. Anthem Media recently acquired SportsGrid.com and RotoExperts.com in order to boost its content in fantasy sports.
The programming style of the network is described to be a combination of CNN and CNBC that will be concentrate on fantasy sports. Anthem Media currenlty has about 30 hours per week on Sirius XM Satellite Radio on fantasy sports.
FtSb says: This would be the second announcement for a network dedicated solely to fantasy sports. Fantasy Sports TV is looking to also launch in 2014 and will cover the gambit of sports from football, basketball, baseball, racing, hockey and golf.

Both networks look to take advantage of the growing number of individual that participate in fantasy leagues. An estimated 35 million adults in North America participate and the majority of those individuals participate in football.
The next move would be from the traditional media channels to see how they react to these moves. Although fantasy sports can be thought of as a segregated market, the powerhouses like ESPN, CBS, Fox and NBC must keep in mind that the derivative market of fantasy sports could eclipse that of the traditional market.
