Goodell discusses how fantasy football can keep fans interested in the entire season even though the fan's favorite NFL team may not be doing well in the season. Goodell also discussed how fantasy football can bring fans closer and revealed he himself plays fantasy football with his 5th grade daughter in a father-daughter league.
FtSb Says: Football is the king of fantasy sports. An endorsement of the commissioner of the NFL goes a long way for the fantasy sport to be able to thrive and foster. You would be hard pressed to find statements by MLB current commissioner Bud Selig or NBA current commissioner David Stern. Both commissioners are on their way out so it remains to be seen if the upcoming commissioners will embrace their respective fantasy sports. MLB currently ranks a distant 2nd in fantasy sports popularity and the NBA ranks 4th behind auto racing.
